I grew up with 4 sisters and a brother. Yes our home was always busy. One thing that happened all the time was my father NEVER called any of us by our right name. He would go down the list of our names before he got to the one he wanted even if we were standing right in front of him! I know this happens to all of you with a big family 🙂 However, God does not get your name confused with anyone else in His large family…”…I have redeemed you I have called you by name, child, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1 Isn’t it reassuring to know that the God of the Universe knows you by name? He knows every hair on your head, every tear that you cry, every desire of your heart. He is not looking at you and thinking of someone else. “I have written your name on the palm of my hands.” He knows every detail about you from the color of your eyes, to your favorite food, to your favorite song and of course on and on…! He knows. And more important He cares and loves you as the “apple of His eye”. He loves you with “an everlasting love”. This knowledge of knowing your name should reassure you that you are His. He will not fail you. He will fight for you. You have His inheritance. You are redeemed. You are never out of His sight. Your sin is forgiven. You are free. You are desired. You are accepted. You are compared to no one. You are His and He knows your name.
